55 Government Staffers Sacked In 2 Years Over Terror Links: LG Sinha

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir administration has dismissed 55 government employees from service for promoting terrorism in the Union territory, lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha has said.

The employees’ services have been terminated by the administration after the special status of J&K was revoked in 2019 and a special task force to identify such employees was formed in 2021. Sinha said that the administration was not ready to give money to people helping militancy in the Union territory.

“Around 55 government employees and workers have been sacked who promoted terrorism. The process will continue till the time action is taken against these types of people who have helped promote terrorism,” Sinha said during a cultural function, Shikara Fest, in Delhi late on Saturday.

“No government can afford to give money to such people. This work will continue in the coming days as well,” he said.

Following the revocation of J&K’s special status in 2019 and its bifurcation into two Union territories, Jammu ans Kashmir and Ladakh, the administration has been dismissing government employees under Article 311(2) (c) of the Constitution. This provision gives the government the power to sack employees without an inquiry if “the President or the governor is satisfied that in the interest of the security of the state, it is not expedient to hold such inquiry”.

The government formed a special task force in April 21, 2021, to identify and scrutinise the cases of employees allegedly involved in any case related to posing a “threat to the country’s security or anti-national activities”. Since then, many high profile or those persons holding important government positions have been dismissed.

In August, the authorities dismissed the services of the chief manager of the J&K bank, accusing him of having “links with the terror ecosystem”.

In July, the administration terminated the services of three government employees, including the public relations officer of Kashmir University, for alleged anti-national activities under Article 311 of the Constitution.

Among the other people who have been sacked are a chemistry professor, sons of Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin and a deputy superintendent in J&K prisons department.

The terminations have been criticised by trade union and political leaders. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has called these actions ”arbitrary” and aimed “at frightening Kashmiris into submission”.

Sinha added that stone pelting has become history in J&K.

“Now, there is no bandh call by Pakistan or its front-runners. The schools, colleges, trade and business are functioning normally by the wishes of the people of J&K. The people are living on their own terms and there is no dictation from anybody,” he said.–(Hindustan Times)

JKSSB SI Shortlist 2023: Result of CBT examination conducted for the posts of Sub-Inspector, Home Department – Shortlisting of candidates thereof.

Whereas, the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) conducted Computer Based Written Test (CBT) for the posts of Sub Inspector, Home Department, UT Cadre, advertised vide Advertisement Notification No. 06 of 2021, under item No. 668, from 07-12-2022 to 20-12-2022; and

Whereas, the result/scoresheet for the said examination was notified vide No. JKSSB- COEOEXAM(UT)/54/2022-03 (7057013) Dated: 03-11-2023; and

JKSSB SI Shortlist 2023: Whereas, as per S.O 214 dated: 1st July, 2021 of the Home Department, the number of candidates to be selected for appearing in the Physical Standard Test (PST) shall be six times the total number of vacancies to be filled up in each category and the candidates who meet the physical standards shall be required to undergo the Physical Endurance Test (PET), as per the standards provided therein.

Accordingly, the candidates who are falling in the consideration zone for the aforementioned posts and who have been shortlisted for appearing in PST/PET are given in Annexure “A” to this notification.

Further details including the date and venue of PST/PET shall be notified separately.

It is further notified that:

i. mere calling a candidate for the PST/PET does not confer right upon him/her for selection and that he/she has to fulfill other eligibility conditions, as laid down and decision of the Board in this regard shall be final.

ii. the PST/PET shall be of qualifying nature only.

UGC Recruitment Update: University Grants Commission invites online applications for the post of Joint Secretary (4 positions) on deputation basis.

Online applications are invited for filling up of 4 Nos of Joint Secretary posts on Deputation basis in the Office of the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. The last date submission of online applications is 03-12-2023

1. The eligibility of candidate shall be determined as on the last date of submission of the application form.

2. The number of posts are tentative, and may vary and the UGC reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of posts and may or may not fill any post(s) and its decision in this regard shall be final.

3. The UGC reserves the right to withdraw any advertised post(s) at any time without giving any reason. Any consequential vacancies arising at the time of interview may also be filled up from the available candidates.

4.

In case of any inadvertent mistake in the process of selection which may be detected at any stage even after the issue of appointment letter, the UGC reserves the right to modify/withdraw/ cancel any communication made to the candidate.

5. The prescribed qualifications are minimum and mere possession and fulfillment of the essential and desirable qualifications for a post does not entitle the candidate to be called for interview/test as may be decided by the UGC. 7. The decision of the Committee to shortlist the candidates from amongst the total number of applications received will be binding on all. Applications without required enclosures and enclosures not in prescribed formats will not be considered.

8. The candidates short-listed for interview/test will be informed by website notification/e-mail.

9. Original certificates should be produced only at the time of interview.

10. The UGC shall verify the antecedents and documents submitted by the candidate atvthe time of appointment or during the tenure of his/ her service. In case, it is found that the documents/ information submitted by the candidate are fake or the candidate has a clandestine antecedents / background and has suppressed any information then his/her services shall be terminated.

In the case of in-service applicants, the Forwarding Authority may ensure that the applications are accompanied by APARS for the last five years and a Vigilance Clearance Certificate attested by an Officer, not below the rank of Under Secretary/Equivalent.

Requirements/Guidelines for filling Online Application

Candidates should have valid e-mail ID and Mobile Number, this will help him/her in getting information regarding Call Letter / Interview / Acknowledgment by e- mail and SMS.

Candidates should first scan their photograph in JPEG format. The digital size of the file should be less than 200KB. (The applications with Selfie Photographs/ Photographs with Caps/Hats/Goggles/Mobile Photos will not be considered.)

Candidates need to Scan the duly filled-in required documents as per the prescribed formats (available at www.ugc.gov.in) in PDF for uploading at the time of submission of online application. ( documents in different formats/un-clear formats will be rejected).

4.Applications shall be entertained only if all the required documents were uploaded in prescribed formats during the submission of online application.

5. Applicants may ensure that the applications are accompanied by grading APARS for the last five years attested by an officer, not below the rank of Under Secretary/equivalent of forwarding organization.

6. Candidates may visit the website i.e., www.ugc.gov.in and follow the instructions given on the website from time to time.

7.Merely filling up online form does not mean that the application has been submitted. Once filling up of online application is completed, the candidate is required to press “Submit” button on the last.

8. Candidates are advised to fill the applications carefully. They may go through the filled in form, before final submission, to ensure that all the information provided in the form is correct. Upon successful filling up of form, candidates should note the reference number displayed on the screen. Candidates can re-open the application by using this reference number for viewing and printing purposes. Once the application is filled complete, the candidate should take a printout of the system- generated PDF file and send the application through the proper channel.

The candidate must ensure to furnish correct Mobile Number and e-mail ID to receive registration confirmation and other communications from time to time. While applying online form the applicant should ensure that he/she fulfills the eligibility and other norms mentioned above and that the particulars furnished by him/her are correct in all respects. In case it is detected at any stage of recruitment that a candidate does not fulfills the eligibility norms or that he/she has furnished any incorrect/false information or has suppressed any material facts, his / her candidature will stand cancelled. If any of these shortcomings is/are detected even after the appointment his/her services are likely to be terminated.

MeT Predicts Light Rain, Snow From 8th to 10th November In J&K

Srinagar, Nov 06 (KS): Meteorological department on Monday has predicted light rain, snow from 8th to 10th November in Jammu and Kashmir.

An official from MeT told news agency Kashmir Scroll, that currently, the weather is mainly clear to partly cloudy. He said that on 6th-7th November, weather will remain mainly dry.

However on 8th November, Fairly to generally cloudy with light rain over plains and light snow over few higher reaches, he added.

On 9th November, Generally cloudy with light rain over plains and light snow over higher reaches (Razdan Pass, Sadhna Pass Sinthan Pass, Zojila and Mughal Road), he said.

On 10th November, Fairly to Generally cloudy with light rain/snow at isolated places in the morning hours and improvement thereafter. From 11th-15th November, weather will remain Mainly dry again, he said.

During this period, there will be dip in maximum temperature, he said.

MeT department also issued an advisory, urging farmers to suspend farm operations during this period particularly on 9th November.

Travellers are also advised to plan their journey accordingly as there is possibility of temporary disruption of surface transportation over higher reaches due to slippery conditions during this period. (KS)

Srinagar, Nov 05: Aspirants of the JKPSI (Jammu and Kashmir Police Sub-Inspector) and JE-Civil (Junior Engineer-Civil) examinations have conveyed their heartfelt appreciation to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory for the swift announcement of their exam results.

In a statement, they said the timely declaration has put an end to the prolonged period of uncertainty and marked a moment of celebration for thousands of aspirants.

The aspirants, who had eagerly awaited the results, expressed their deep gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, Commissioner/Secretary of GAD Sanjeev Verma, and Chairman of JKSSB Rajesh Sharma for their relentless efforts and commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process.

“With the declaration of results, the sufferings of thousands of aspirants have come to an end. The scenario of uncertainty is over, and aspirants can breathe a sigh of relief. Also, all the institutions of J&K UT that were involved in the smooth conduct of these exams deserve to be acknowledged and applauded,” they said.

The method by which these exams were conducted establishes the uncompromising commitment of the government to conduct the recruitment process fairly and transparently, they said, adding that due to the steps taken by the administration, anxiety and depression can take a back seat.
The aspirants added, “Both of these recruitments have been marred by delay, mostly due to a section that was and is part of a group that has a vested interest and was exposed when the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh disposed of the petition as being based on assumptions and apprehension. A malafide case aided by propaganda had resulted in a situation of uncertainty whose only output was a delay in recruitment along with anxiety among aspirants. But the eventful night of November 3, 2023, finally gave the aspirants what they had longed for, i.e., the result of JKPSI and JE-Civil. With this, the aspirants are filled with hope and positivity for their future endeavours.”
Since we all know that JKPSI is not a single-stage exam, we expect the government and concerned institutions to conduct the PET in a timely manner, they said.

“We are hopeful that the present and upcoming recruitments never face such a delay again. The faith of the youth of J&K UT has been renewed in the present administration, and they are hopeful that their hard work will be rewarded. Thus, we can conclude the scenario of recruitment for JKPSI and JE-Civil by saying this: The longer the night, the brighter the dawn,” the aspirants said.
