IGNOU Extends Assignment Submission Deadline for June 2026 TEE

In a major relief for lakhs of students across the country, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has officially extended the last date for submission of assignments for the June 2026 Term-End Examination (TEE). The notification has been issued by the Student Evaluation Division (SED), Assignment Section, IGNOU Headquarters.

As per the official notice dated May 4, 2026, the university has extended the deadline for submission of assignments for both Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Programmes including GOAL and EVBB up to May 31, 2026.

The extension comes as a huge relief for students who were unable to complete or submit their assignments due to academic pressure, technical issues, late study material delivery, or personal reasons. Students from Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of India had been requesting the university to provide more time for assignment submissions, and IGNOU has now responded positively.

The decision is expected to benefit thousands of students preparing for the June 2026 Term-End Examinations.

Official Notification Issued by IGNOU

The notification released by the university clearly states:

“With the approval of the Competent Authority, the last date for submission of assignments (both in hard copy and soft copy) for Term End Examinations, June-2026 for both ODL and Online programmes, GOAL and EVBB has been further extended up to 31st May, 2026.”

The notice was signed by Chetna Nirwan, Assistant Registrar, Student Evaluation Division, IGNOU.

The extension applies to:

  • ODL Programmes

  • EVBB Programmes

This means students enrolled under any of these categories can now submit their pending assignments till the revised deadline without facing rejection due to late submission.

What is IGNOU Assignment Submission?

Assignments are one of the most important components of IGNOU’s evaluation system. Every student enrolled in IGNOU must submit assignments for their respective courses before appearing in the Term-End Examination (TEE).

The assignments carry significant weightage in the final result. Usually, assignments contribute around 30% of the total marks, while the Term-End Examination contributes the remaining 70%.

Students are required to prepare handwritten or online assignments as prescribed by the university and submit them before the deadline.

Failure to submit assignments can result in:

  • Ineligibility to appear in exams
  • Result withholding
  • Incomplete grade card
  • Delay in course completion

Therefore, timely submission of assignments is extremely important for all IGNOU students.

Why IGNOU Extended the Last Date

The university has not mentioned a specific reason in the notification, but several factors are believed to have contributed to the extension decision.

1. Student Requests

3. Technical Problems

Students enrolled in online programmes faced issues related to portal access, uploading errors, and server problems during assignment submission.

The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has officially released the Provisional Answer Key for the OMR-Based Written Examination conducted for the post of Laboratory Attendant, Home Department, J&K. The examination was held on 10 May 2026 under Advertisement Notification No. 06 of 2025, Item No. 24. Candidates who appeared in the examination can now check the provisional answer key for all series including Series A, B, C, and D and evaluate their expected scores.

The release of the provisional answer key is an important step in the recruitment process as it allows candidates to review their responses and raise objections if they find discrepancies in any answer. JKSSB has also provided a structured objection submission process, enabling transparency and fairness in the evaluation procedure.

According to the official notification issued by JKSSB, candidates can submit objections against any answer key by providing valid documentary proof along with a prescribed fee.

Overview of JKSSB Laboratory Attendant Answer Key 2026

The Laboratory Attendant examination was conducted successfully across Jammu and Kashmir on 10 May 2026. Thousands of aspirants appeared in the examination hoping to secure a position in the Home Department. Soon after the exam, candidates started waiting for the answer key to estimate their performance and chances of selection.

The provisional answer key serves multiple purposes:

  • Helps candidates estimate marks
  • Ensures transparency in evaluation
  • Provides an opportunity to challenge incorrect answers
  • Minimizes errors before final result declaration

JKSSB has uploaded answer keys for all four series of question papers. Candidates are advised to carefully compare their responses with the official answers and calculate their tentative scores.

Official Details Mentioned in the Notification

As per the notification issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board:

  • Post Name: Laboratory Attendant
  • Department: Home Department, J&K
  • Advertisement Notification No.: 06 of 2025
  • Item Number: 24

  • Examination Type: OMR-Based Written Examination
  • Answer Key Status: Provisional
  • Objection Mode: Offline Only

The official notice further clarifies that objections submitted after the prescribed period or through any other mode will not be entertained.

Importance of the Provisional Answer Key

The provisional answer key is not the final evaluation document. Instead, it acts as a preliminary version released before the declaration of final results. This stage is extremely important because:

1. Transparency in Recruitment

Candidates can independently verify the correctness of answers and ensure the fairness of the recruitment process.

2. Error Rectification

If any answer is incorrect or ambiguous, candidates can submit representations with proof.

3. Score Estimation

Candidates can estimate expected marks and evaluate their chances for the next stage.

4. Fair Opportunity to All

The objection mechanism ensures that all candidates get equal opportunity to challenge doubtful answers.

JKSSB Objection Process Explained

JKSSB has clearly outlined the process for submitting objections against the provisional answer key. Candidates who believe that a particular answer is incorrect can submit their objections in offline mode only.

Key Points Regarding Objections

  • Objections must be submitted on the prescribed format
  • Documentary proof supporting the claim is mandatory
  • Only hard copies will be accepted
  • A fee of ₹200 per question must be submitted through Demand Draft
  • The fee is refundable if the objection is found genuine and correct

The official notification states that the demand draft should be drawn in favour of the Accounts Officer, J&K Services Selection Board.

Where to Submit Objections?

Candidates can submit objections at the following JKSSB offices:

Jammu Office

JKSSB, Muthi, Akhnoor Road, Jammu

Srinagar Office

JKSSB, Zamzam Building, Rambagh, Srinagar

The Board has specified that objections will be accepted for three working days starting from 11 May 2026 between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM only.

What Happens After Objection Submission?

Once objections are submitted, JKSSB will review all claims carefully. Subject experts will analyze the supporting evidence provided by candidates. If any objection is found correct:

  • The answer key will be revised accordingly
  • The correction will apply uniformly to all candidates
  • No separate communication regarding acceptance or rejection will be sent individually

This ensures equal treatment for all candidates appearing in the examination.

Details Available in the Provisional Answer Key

The answer key released by JKSSB contains answers for all 120 questions across four series:

  • Series A
  • Series B
  • Series C
  • Series D

The answer key is arranged question-wise for easy reference.

For example:

Question No. Series A Series B Series C Series D
Q1 B B A D
Q2 C A B A
Q3 C D C B
Q4 A C A C

The complete answer key is available in the official PDF notification.

How to Calculate Expected Marks?

Candidates can calculate their probable scores using the provisional answer key by following these steps:

Step 1: Match Responses

Compare your marked answers with the official answer key.

Step 2: Count Correct Answers

Calculate the number of correct responses.

Step 3: Apply Marking Scheme

Use the official marking pattern mentioned in the recruitment notification.

Step 4: Deduct Negative Marks

Several factors affect the cut-off:

  • Number of candidates appearing

  • Cross-check doubtful answers with standard textbooks
  • Submit objections only with authentic proof

A careful review can improve fairness in final result preparation.

JKBOPEE 10th Based Paramedical Diploma Counselling 2026

What is JKBOPEE Paramedical Diploma Counselling?

JKBOPEE conducts counselling for admissions to 10th Based Paramedical Diploma courses in Government and Private institutions across Jammu and Kashmir. The counselling process is conducted completely online through the official JKBOPEE portal.

Students who qualify the Common Entrance Test (CET) and appear in the Provisional Merit List (PML) become eligible to participate in the counselling process.

The counselling allows candidates to:

  • Choose institutions
  • Select preferred disciplines
  • Participate in seat allotment
  • Upgrade allotted seats
  • Secure admission based on merit and preferences

The admission process is governed by merit-cum-preference and reservation rules applicable in Jammu and Kashmir.

Courses Covered Under Counselling

The counselling is being conducted for:

  • Female Multi Purpose Health Worker (FMPHW)
  • Male Multi Purpose Health Worker (MMPHW)

These diploma programmes prepare students for healthcare and public health services in hospitals, primary health centres, rural health missions, and other healthcare institutions.

Importance of the Counselling Process

Many candidates mistakenly think that qualifying the entrance examination guarantees admission. However, JKBOPEE clearly states that merely registering for counselling does not confer any right to secure a seat.

Admission depends upon:

  1. Merit obtained in CET
  2. Preferences filled by candidates
  3. Reservation policy
  4. Availability of seats
  5. Timely reporting and document verification

Candidates who fail to complete any stage properly may lose their seats even if they have good ranks.

General Instructions for Candidates

JKBOPEE has issued several important instructions for students participating in the counselling process.

Read Instructions Carefully

Candidates are advised to carefully read all counselling guidelines before submitting the online preference form.

Preference Form is Mandatory

Only candidates who fill the online preference form within the prescribed dates will be considered for seat allotment.

Fill Choices Carefully

Candidates should select institutions and disciplines in the order of their actual preference. The most preferred institution should be filled first.

Minimum One Preference Required

Students must fill at least one preference. Without entering any preference, the candidate cannot proceed further in the counselling portal.

Documents and Information Required Before Registration

Before starting the registration process, candidates should keep the following details ready:

  • CET Application Number
  • CET Roll Number
  • CET Score
  • CET Rank

Keeping these details ready in advance helps avoid delays during online counselling.

Step-by-Step Online Registration Process

The registration process is completely online. Here is the detailed process explained in simple language.

Step 1: Visit JKBOPEE Website

Candidates need to visit the official JKBOPEE portal and click on the “Sign Up” link.

Step 2: Fill Registration Form

Students must fill all required details carefully and submit the form.

Step 3: Username Generation

After successful registration, the username is generated automatically, which is usually the CET Application Number.

Step 4: Account Activation

Candidates receive an activation link on their registered email address along with OTP verification.

Step 5: Create Password

After successful verification, candidates must create a secure password for future login.

Step 6: Login to Portal

Using the username and password, candidates can log into the counselling portal and begin preference filling.

How to Fill Online Preferences

Preference filling is one of the most crucial parts of the counselling process.

Institution-Wise Discipline Selection

Candidates can choose institutions along with disciplines according to their interests.

Preference Order Matters

The order of preferences is extremely important because seats are allotted according to merit and preference order.

For example:

  1. Government Medical College Institution
  2. District Hospital Institution
  3. Private College Institution

If a candidate gets the first available preferred seat based on merit, lower preferences are ignored.

Preview Before Submission

Candidates can preview all selected preferences before final submission.

OTP-Based Submission

An OTP is sent to the registered mobile number before final submission of choices.

Without OTP verification, preferences cannot be submitted successfully.

Can Preferences Be Changed?

Yes, JKBOPEE allows candidates to modify preferences before the deadline.

Students can:

  • Delete existing preferences
  • Fill fresh preferences
  • Submit updated choices

However, deletion is permanent. If a candidate deletes preferences and fails to submit fresh preferences again, they will not be considered for seat allotment.

Merit-Based Seat Allotment

The allotment of seats is done based on:

  • CET merit
  • Reservation rules
  • Preferences submitted by candidates

Candidates with higher merit generally get better institutions and disciplines.

Counselling Rounds Explained

JKBOPEE conducts counselling in multiple rounds to ensure maximum seat utilization.

The rounds include:

  1. First Round
  2. Second Round
  3. Third Round / Mop-Up Round
  4. Stray Vacancy Round

Let us understand each round in detail.

First Round of Counselling

The first round is the primary seat allotment round.

Provisional Select List

Based on merit and preferences, JKBOPEE publishes a Provisional Select List (PSL).

Download Allotment Letter

Candidates who receive seats must download the provisional allotment letter.

Physical Reporting Mandatory

After allotment, students must physically report to the allotted institution with original documents within the notified time period.

Joining Certificate

The institution issues a joining certificate after successful admission formalities.

What Happens if a Candidate Does Not Join?

If a candidate fails to join the allotted institution within the specified period, the seat is cancelled automatically.

The candidate loses claim over that seat.

This is why candidates should regularly check counselling schedules and deadlines.

Admission Cancellation Rules

Candidates can voluntarily cancel admission if they no longer wish to continue.

To cancel admission:

  1. Submit cancellation request before deadline
  2. Institution uploads cancellation on portal
  3. Admission gets cancelled officially

The vacated seat becomes available for subsequent counselling rounds.

Reservation Rules in First Round

JKBOPEE follows J&K Reservation Rules during the first counselling round.

Reserved category seats are allotted according to applicable reservation policies.

Second Round of Counselling

The second round is conducted for:

  • Vacant seats
  • Non-joined seats
  • Cancelled seats
  • Upgradation opportunities

Who Can Participate in Second Round?

The following candidates are eligible:

  • Candidates who did not get seats in Round 1
  • Candidates who joined seats in Round 1
  • Fresh eligible candidates who missed earlier registration

Important Upgradation Rule

Candidates cannot opt for the same institution and discipline already allotted during Round 1.

However, they can apply for:

  • Better institutions
  • Different disciplines
  • Higher preference seats

subject to availability.

Fresh Preferences Required Again

One major rule many students forget is that previous preferences are cancelled in the next round.

Candidates must fill fresh choices for the second round.

Failure to submit fresh preferences means:

  • No consideration for new allotment
  • Existing joined seat remains retained

Third Round and Mop-Up Counselling

The third round and mop-up round are conducted for remaining vacant seats.

Seats may become vacant due to:

  • Non-joining
  • Cancellation
  • Upgradation
  • Unfilled reserved seats

Who Can Participate in Third Round?

Eligible candidates include:

  • Candidates without seats
  • Candidates seeking upgradation
  • Fresh eligible candidates

Conversion of Reserved Seats

An important aspect of counselling is conversion of category seats.

If reserved category seats remain vacant after multiple rounds, they may be converted into Open Merit seats according to J&K Reservation Act provisions.

These converted seats are then allotted on merit-cum-preference basis.

Simultaneous Filling of Vacated Seats

When a candidate gets upgraded to another institution:

  • Previous seat becomes vacant
  • Vacated seat is simultaneously allotted to another eligible candidate

This ensures maximum seat utilization.

Stray Vacancy Round

After completion of all major counselling rounds, JKBOPEE may conduct stray or special counselling rounds.

These rounds aim to fill all remaining vacant seats before the final admission deadline.

Who Cannot Participate in Stray Round?

The following candidates are not eligible:

  1. Candidates who never registered
  2. Candidates already holding seats
  3. Candidates allotted seats earlier but failed to join

Seat Allotment in Stray Round

Seats are allotted based on:

  • CET merit
  • 10th class marks
  • Science subject marks (in tie cases)
  • Older age (if tie still remains)

Important Advice for Students

Fill Maximum Choices

Candidates should fill as many realistic choices as possible to increase allotment chances.

Avoid Carelessness

JKBOPEE repeatedly warns candidates to fill forms carefully because mistakes can cost them seats.

Do Not Depend on Agents

Candidates are advised to fill forms themselves and avoid middlemen or agents.

Regularly Visit Website

No separate communication may be sent individually. Students should regularly check the JKBOPEE portal for updates.

Common Mistakes to Avoid During Counselling

Many students lose seats due to avoidable mistakes. Here are some common errors:

  • Missing counselling deadlines
  • Filling wrong preferences
  • Not verifying OTP
  • Forgetting fresh preference submission in new rounds
  • Not reporting physically after allotment
  • Ignoring official notifications
  • Providing incorrect information

Why These Diploma Courses Are Important

Healthcare and paramedical sectors are rapidly growing in Jammu and Kashmir and across India.

These diploma programmes offer opportunities in:

  • Primary healthcare centres
  • Government hospitals
  • Rural health missions
  • Community healthcare projects
  • Medical support services
  • Public health departments

FMPHW and MMPHW professionals play crucial roles in preventive healthcare and grassroots medical services.

Career Scope After FMPHW and MMPHW

Students completing these diploma programmes can work as:

  • Health workers
  • Community health assistants
  • Rural healthcare staff
  • Medical support staff
  • Public health field workers
  • Healthcare coordinators

Many graduates later pursue advanced healthcare studies and government recruitment opportunities.

The JKBOPEE 10th Based Paramedical Diploma Counselling 2026 is a major opportunity for students seeking careers in the healthcare sector. Candidates should carefully follow all counselling instructions, fill preferences wisely, and stay updated with official notifications.

The counselling process may seem complicated initially, but students who understand the rules properly can significantly improve their admission chances.

Timely registration, careful preference filling, and regular monitoring of counselling updates are the keys to securing a seat in a preferred institution.

J&K Police to Deploy 4,000 New Constables in Specialised Technical Roles Amid Emerging Security Challenges

4000 new constables to be utilised for specialised technical roles due to unique challenges: J&K DGP

Srinagar, May 10: J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat said on Sunday that over 4,000 constables, including 600 females, are being utilised for specialised technical roles due to unique challenges.

Addressing newly recruited constables, he said that these constables include B.Tech and M.Tech candidates, whose services will be utilised in specialised technical roles within the force.

The police chief said that the newly recruited constables of J&K Police represent a new generation of educated and technically skilled youth who will play a crucial role in strengthening the force in the coming years.

At the appointment letter presentation ceremony by LG Manoj Sinha at the Armed Police Complex, Zewan, here, the DGP said more than 4,000 youth have been recruited into J&K Police, including nearly 600 women candidates.

He said over 5.5 lakh applications were received for the posts, which had been advertised in 2024. He said many of the selected candidates are graduates, postgraduates, B.Tech and M.Tech degree holders.

The DGP stated that such highly educated recruits would be identified during the training process and their expertise would be utilised in specialised and technical fields related to Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), CCPS and other technology-based policing systems.

He said the recruitment of highly educated youth into the police force reflects their patriotism and commitment towards national service.

Describing J&K Police as a modern and technology-driven force, he said there is a growing need to strengthen citizen-centric policing and improve professional capabilities within the organisation. Calling the newly recruited constables the backbone of the force, he said the police uniform symbolises discipline, honesty, loyalty, courage, sacrifice and dedication towards public service.

He urged the recruits to make full use of the training period and learn every aspect of policing with sincerity and commitment. The DGP further said that, unlike many other police organisations in the country, J&K Police operates under unique and challenging circumstances, where policing goes beyond conventional law-and-order duties.

“Our challenges are different, and our responsibilities are wider. During the training process, we will prepare you not only physically, but also mentally and professionally to deal with these challenges effectively,” he told the recruits.–(IANS)
