GMC Anantnag gets accreditation for 11 more DNB seats

Anantnag, Jan 05 (KNO): The Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag has made remarkable strides in postgraduate education, securing accreditation for an additional eleven 11 DNB seats from the National Board of Examinations (NBEMS) New Delhi for this session.

This elevates the total accredited seats to 63, an official statement said.

It said that Dr Anjum Farhana, Principal of GMC Anantnag, expressed appreciation for the pivotal roles played by various departments including Orthopedics (3 seats), Pathology (3 seats), Microbiology (3 seats), and Physiology (2 seats).

She emphasized the dual impact of these additions, enriching academic pursuits and enhancing the quality of patient care.

Dr Azia Manzoor, DNB Coordinator and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine, highlighted the significance of this accreditation as it marks the eighteenth department at GMC Anantnag recognized by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi.

He told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that GMC Anantnag stands as the sole medical college with the highest number of accredited DNB seats among new medical colleges.

Srinagar 5 Jan(KB): In a routine administrative reshuffle, the Jammu & Kashmir government today issued orders for the transfer and posting of two junior engineers in the Public Works (R&B) Department.

As per the government order, Junior Engineer Asif Nawaz has been transferred from the R&B Division Gandoh to the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board. Meanwhile, Junior Engineer Gulam Abbas, who was posted at the Waqf Board, has been recalled and his services have been placed at the disposal of the Chief Engineer, Chenab Valley Circle for further posting.

Srinagar, Jan 05 (KNO): Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday said to have caught a DDC member red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Ganderbal.

As per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesman said that a complainant approached ACB with a written complaint against public servants namely Majid Aziz, District Mineral Officer Ganderbal and Gowhar Ahmad Reshi, BDC Member, alleging demand of bribe for issuance of disposal permit.

“It was alleged that the complainant is an authorized material supplier and sought a disposal permit from DMO Ganderbal after completing all procedural formalities. However, the issuance of permit was delayed on one or the other pretext. When he approached DMO Ganderbal Majid Aziz, the complainant was asked to visit BDC member Gowhat Ahmad and do whatever he demands,” the statement said.

“The complainant accordingly approached Gowhar Ahmad who demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 for the issuance of document out of which Rs 10,000 was to be paid in advance today,” it said, adding that the complainant chose not to pay bribe and instead approached Anti-Corruption Bureau for taking legal action against the accused public servant as provided under law.

“On receipt of the complaint, a case under FIR number 01/2024 under section 7 PC Act 1988 was registered at PS ACB Srinagar and investigation taken up,” the statement said.

“During the course of investigation, a trap team was constituted. The team laid a successful trap and caught the accused BDC member red handed while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from the complainant. The money was recovered from the accused on spot. The accused has been identified as Gowhar Ahmad Reshi S/o Sonaullah Reshi R/o Safapora Ganderbal, BDC Member. Role of DMO Majid Aziz in the matter is being investigated. 4. Further investigation into the case is going on,” it added.

The appointments are made based on recommendations from the J&K Services Selection Board and endorsed by the General Administration Department.
