It is further ordered that:

i. The concerned Administrative Secretaries shall take immediate necessary steps, including amending records, for effecting the changes;

ii. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir/Jammu shall personally monitor the naming of infrastructure assets in their respective divisions; and

iii. Deputy Commissioner(s) shall ensure that suitable events are held in connection with the naming of these infrastructure assets.

Srinagar, Aug 14 (GNS): In a significant development aimed at enhancing public service delivery, the Revenue Department has successfully concluded the promotion exercise of Tehsildars in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

With this in-charge Tehsildars pending for promotion for a long time have been regularised. This crucial step signifies the end of adhocism within the Gazetted cadre of the Revenue service.

To further fortify the framework and ensure optimal utilization of available workforce, all eligible Naib Tehsildars have been promoted to the position of Tehsildars. Consequently, four additional Naib Tehsildars have been promoted to the esteemed rank of Tehsildars and will be deployed in the field to address critical gaps.

Despite the existence of pending matters spanning several years, the Revenue Department, driven by its commitment to bolster the public service delivery framework, has successfully concluded the process of promoting Tehsildars. It is worth mentioning that pending issues have been resolved, and most of the critical vacancies have been filled.

This strengthening of the Revenue Department will serve as a catalyst in ensuring that the revenue services provided under the Public Service Guarantee Act of 2011 are promptly accessible to the public within the prescribed timeline. (GNS)

Indian Navy Recruitment 2023, Educational Qualification, Age Limit, How to apply

The Indian Navy has invited applications from unmarried male and female candidates for Short Service Commission in Information Technology (Executive Branch). Job aspirants who meets the eligibility criteria can apply for the recruitment drive via online mode through the official site of the Indian Navy at joinindiannavy.gov.in.

The online application process has started and the deadline for the application submission is August 20, 2023.

Selected candidates will be granted Short Service Commission initially for 10 years extendable by maximum 04 years in 02 terms (02 years + 02 years), subject to service requirements, performance, medical eligibility and candidates’ willingness.

Educational Qualification

Srinagar, Aug 14 (GNS): ADGP Vijay Kumar is among fifty five Police officers from Jammu and Kashmir Police awarded the prestigious Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) for their utmost dedication and determination towards their services, by the President of India.

An official in the knowhow of things told GNS that besides ADGP Vijay Kumar, the other police officers bestowed with the award include current DIG CKR, Sujit Kumar, former DIG South Kashmir, Abdul Jabbar (IPS) and former SSP Kulgam, GV Sundeep Chakravarthy.

Notably, Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) is awarded on the ground of display of conspicuous gallantry in saving life and property, or in preventing crime or arresting criminals. (GNS)

MeT predicts hot, humid weather in J&K

Srinagar, Aug 14 (GNS): Weather department here on Monday forecast mainly hot, humid and dry conditions even though chances of “brief spell” of rain at “isolated places” have not been ruled out.

A meteorological department official here told GNS that there was rain at isolated places of Jammu region while weather was partly cloudy in Ramban-Banihal and in Kashmir valley.

“Mainly hot, humid and dry weather is expected during the next 24 hours. Rain may occur at isolated to scattered places of Jammu & Kashmir towards late afternoon and evening, although chances are less,” he said.

On August 15, he said, there is a possibility of early morning showers at some places of J&K and weather is expected to be dry during the rest of the day. In fact, he said, there is no forecast of any major rainfall this week.

Meanwhile, he said, Srinagar had a low of 21.0°C against 21.6°C on the previous night and it was above normal by 2.7°C for the summer capital.

Jammu district, he said, recorded a minimum of 23.6°C against 26.1°C on the previous night. It was 1.4°C below normal for the winter capital, the official added. (GNS)
