Time not far when entire terror-ecosystem will crumble in J&K: LG Manoj Sinha

Says every house must rise to occasion to reject terror, its supporters; Enough blood of innocents has flown in J&K; Those whose hands are drenched with innocents’ blood can’t misguide people anymore; writers, not a single non-J&K resident given land under PMAY; artists must paint changing picture of J&K before nation

Umaiser Gul Ganai

Kulgam, Aug 07 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Monday said terrorism and separatism is on the death bed and the time is not far when “terror-ecosystem” will crumble fully in the UT.

Addressing a gathering at Mini-Secretariat to attend the inaugural ceremony of Veshaw Literary Festival in southern district of Kulgam, the LG, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that separatism and terrorism is on its deathbed in J&K. “Its high time that every house of the UT must rise to an occasion to reject terrorism so that the entire terror-ecosystem falls down. I believe time is not far when the terror-eco system will crumble fully,” he said.

The LG said that people must reject terrorism and its eco-system and join the march of peace. Reaching out to the artists, the LG said that recently writers and artists from across the country exchanged views with each other in Srinagar. “Now it’s time for the writers and artists from J&K to rise and paint the changing picture of J&K through their art and writings,” he said. “Administration is seriously working to provide a platform to every community including youth to shape their future by being a part of the journey of peace and change. The society that was choked for three decades has now started to breathe freely.”

He said that J&K at present is ahead of other States in terms of development and infrastructure building. Without naming anybody, the LG said that those whose hands are drenched with the blood of innocents can no more befool people. “Enough blood of innocents has flown in J&K,” he said.

He said that in Kulgam district, 29 people were provided land under Prime Ministers Awas Yojna (PMAY) and not a single person is non-J&K resident. “Not a single resident has been given land or home under PMAY as claimed by some politicians. Those who grabbed and encroached State land are misguiding people and creating confusion. I want to tell them that their days of playing politics of deceit are over,” he said, adding that there are 8000 families who have no land at all and majority of them are Bakerwals (Nomads)—(KNO)

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Govt will take care of power bills of poor, ‘but’ those having palatial houses, I-Phones with 5-G must pay as per usage: LG Manoj Sinha

Says borrowed electricity for Rs 20,000 Cr in last 4 years; people must cooperate in smart meter installation; 100 per cent metered feeder to have not even one minute power cut; J&K farmer’s income to be number one in country very soon

Umaiser Gul Ganai

Kulgam, Aug 07 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Monday made a big announcement stating that the government will take care of poor man’s power bill but those having palatial houses, I-Phones with 5-internet service and other gadgets have to pay power tariff as per their usage.

“Let me announce today that the government will take care of the poor who can’t afford to pay bills. But those who have palatial houses, I-Phones with 5-G internet data and other gadgets will have to pay power bills as per their usage. They shouldn’t at least make excuses in paying the power bills,” the LG said addressing a gathering at Mini-Secretariat in Southern district of Kulgam, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). He, however, did not elaborate further on this.

He said that in the last 70 years, 3400 MW power was generated locally in J&K and in the next three years equal MWs will be produced.

The LG said that wherever a feeder is 100 per cent metered, power disruption won’t be just for a minute let alone an hour or so. “I urge people to cooperate with us in getting the smart meter installation process completed as soon as possible,” he said. The LG said that J&K people are getting the cheapest electricity compared to other states. “We have borrowed Rs 20,000 Crore worth electricity from outside in the past three to four years. This won’t do. People must pay as per usage,” he said.

“Given the J&K’s topography and snowfall, some projects get delayed. Delay in completion of projects has been given to us in legacy and we are trying to break this tradition of delay in projects’ completion,” he said.

About farmers, he said that at present J&K farmer’s income is at number 5 across the country and time is not far when “our farmer’s income will be number 1.”—(KNO)

JK Special Scholarship Scheme: Students face difficulties, appeal to GoC Chinar Corps to resolve matter in their interest

JK Special Scholarship Scheme:
Students face difficulties, appeal to GoC Chinar Corps to resolve matter in their interest

Srinagar, Aug 7, KNT: Examination for under and post-graduate courses under the Jammu Kashmir Special Scholarship Scheme for the students is going to be held on 9 August this month, however, much chagrin to the students, this year, vacancies have been reduced from 700 to 100.

Jammu Kashmir Special Scholarship Scheme has been started by Indian Army under the Sadbhavana project for the students of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladkah, which had become very popular among students.

Under the scheme, various students get an opportunity to study at various Universities across the country.

This year, however, not only vacancies have been reduced but the online mode has also been shifted to offline mode. Students have been asked to appear in the examination in offline mode, unlike the previous years. Besides, only 3 examination centres have been designated for the Valley students.

“Students from far flung areas had shown keen interest and were reaping benefits under this scheme, however, this year things have been made complicated. Students especially girls from far-flung areas like Gurez, Keran will have to appear at examination centres far off from their native places. Despite our request to top brass, nothing changed in the interest of students,” a couple of parents told the news agency Kashmir News Trust.

Over 12000 students have submitted their forms despite facing difficulties. Now they are worried as to how will they appear in offline mode. Parents are worried that the kids particularly girls will face difficulties in coming to examination centers from far-off places as they will have to stay overnight. A student of Baramullah has to go to Banihal to appear in the exam under this scheme.

Parents said that for the last two years, everything under this scheme had been organized in a fair and transparent manner. “Registration and entrance tests were online and aspirants used to appear for exams even using their mobile phones. As a result students from far-off places easily used to appear. A large number of girls could also appear and make it. Proper information was being shared through SMS, WhatsApp, mail, and cell phones. Everything has changed this year,” they said adding that students are disappointed with the way this scheme has been handled this year.

Parents said that they had pitched for the increase of vacancies and even had requested to create more examination centres but all their pleas have gone in vain.

“On our behalf, DDCs and local leaders even met GoC Chinar Corps and Army Commander Northern Command, but we feel it was a hopeless exercise and now we are left with no option but to again approach local leaders for the resolution of issues being faced by students,” they said and appealed to GoC Chinar Corps to look into the matter.
