Kashmir higher reaches receive fresh snowfall, maximum temperature dips

Ganderbal, Oct 16 (KNO): The higher reaches of the Kashmir Valley on Monday morning experienced a fresh spell of snowfall, while the plains received rain, leading to a significant drop in the maximum temperature

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the higher reaches of the Valley including Razdan Pass, Zojjila Pass, Sinthan Top and Kishtwar experienced snowfall, while plains saw heavy rains.

He said that the continuous rain throughout the night and snowfall on Razdan, Zojjila and Sinthan Tops and surrounding areas forced the authorities to close several roads.

Meanwhile, rains lashed other parts of the Kashmir Valley, resulting in considerable dip in the maximum temperature.

The Meteorological Department has forecast intermittent r rain and snowfall over higher reaches and at scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir over the next few days—(KNO)

In pursuance of Rule 10(e) of the Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (Conduct of Examination) Rules, 2022, as amended upto date, the Provisional Answer Key(s) of GS-I & GS-11 of Question Booklet (Series A) pertaining to the J&K Combined Competitive (Preliminary) Examination 2023 held on 15.10.2023 in two sessions, is hereby notified for seeking the objections from candidates.

The candidates are advised to refer to Question Booklet (Series A) to match the corresponding question(s) in their respective Question Booklet Series and if any candidate feels that the key to any of the question(s) is/are wrong, he/she may represent on prescribed format/proforma annexed as Annexure-A along with the documentary proct/evidence (hard copies only) and fee of Rs.500/- per question in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of COE, J&K PSC (refundable in case of genuine/correct representation) to the Controller of Examinations, Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission, from Monday i.. 16.10.2023 to 18.10.2023. The candidates are further advised to clearly mention the question(s) objected to with reference to its serial number as it appears in the Question Booklet of Series A of the provisional answer key(s).

Further, any objection/application not accompanied by the requisite Demand Draft of Rs.500/-as prescribed, shall not be considered/entertained under any circumstances. Candidates are, in their own interest, advised to adhere to these instructions and not submit any objection unaccompanied by the Demand Draft as required under extant

The Commission shall not entertain any such representation(s) after the expiry of the stipulated period i.e. after 18.10.2023 (Wednesday), 05.00 pm. The provisional key is also available on the website of the Commission http://www.sc.nic.in

Between today and tomorrow afternoon, moderate rain/snow showers are expected in most areas of Jammu and Kashmir. A few areas in higher reaches can receive heavy snowfall.
There are chances of snowfall in Gulmarg (85%), Sonamarg (85%) and Pahalgam (55%) as well.

Day temperatures, especially today, can stay below 14°C at most places in Kashmir Valley and a significant drop in day temperatures is expected in Jammu region as well.

There is a risk of shooting stones/landslides along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

Light to moderate snow showers can also occur in Leh and Kargil districts till tomorrow.

TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

1. From 14-10-2023, 1700 hrs. to 15-10-2023, 1700 hrs., there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to breakdown of 08 HMVs, 08 nomadic herds and single lane traffic at Mehar, Cafeteria and Dalwas between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel.

*2. Passengers/LMVs operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW on day time. Please avoid journey during night hours as movement of nomads from Kashmir valley towards Jammu may cause inconvenience to the commuters* .

3. HMVs Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.

4. HMVs with only 06 and 10 tyres shall be allowed to ply through Dhar road.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 16-10-2023:-

LMVs/HMVs/LOAD CARRIERS;-

Subject to fair weather and better road conditions LMVs Passenger/Private Cars/HMVs/Load Carriers shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline.

*SFs Convoy Movement:-*

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.

*SSG ROAD*

Subject to fair weather and good road condition, vehicular movement on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road shall be allowed from both sides viz Srinagar towards Kargil and vice-versa. LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed from Minamarg towards Srinagar at 0730 hrs. to 1100 hrs. Similarly, LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil at 1300 hrs to 1700 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timings.

*SFs Convoy, plying from Srinagar to Kargil, shall leave Srinagar at 0800 hrs. SFs Convoy plying from Drass to Srinagar shall plan their movement in such a manner so that Civil Traffic doesn’t get disturbed.*

 

*Mughal Road:-*

Subject to fair weather and good road condition, vehicular movement on Mughal road shall be allowed from both sides viz. Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa. These vehicles shall be allowed from Behramgalla (Buffliaz) and Herpora (Shopian) at 0600 hrs. upto 1800 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut of timings

People are advised to undertake journey on NH-44 only after confirming status of the road from Traffic control units as under:-

Moderate to heavy rain showers are expected over most plains of Jammu and Kashmir while moderate snowfall expected over higher reaches during next 36-48 hrs.

Few higher reaches may see heavy snowfall during next 36 hrs , there is a possibilities of seasons first snowfall over Sonamarg, Doodhpatri, Gulmarg, middle and higher reaches of Kulgam , Shopian,& Kupwara during above mentioned period.

Peak activity of the weather system will begin from tonight upto tomorrow late night.

No Snowfall prediction in plains of Kashmir Valley.

MeT predicts heavy snowfall in higher reaches on Monday

Srinagar, Oct 15: Metrological Department Jammu and Kashmir has predicted widespread rain and snowfall at many places and said even heavy snowfall can’t be ruled out in higher reaches in Monday.

“𝙒𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙇𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙈𝙤𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙍𝙖𝙞𝙣/𝙎𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙛𝙖𝙡𝙡( 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙨)𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙖𝙩 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨. 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙮 𝙎𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙛𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙣’𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙪𝙩(>75% 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚),” statement from Local weather station reads.

The weather update for the today by the weather station is cloudy at most places of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Light Rain/Snow (over higher reaches) very likely at scattered places of J&K,” it said.

The weather station also said that light Rain/Snowfall over higher reaches is likely at scattered places on Tuesday and improvement in weather is likely from Wednesday.

The weather station also said that significant drop in temperature was recorded in J&K.

Weather station has also advised farmers to postpone harvesting of crops till 17th and added that there may be temporarily disruption of traffic at vulnerable places like Zojila, Mugal Road, Sinthantop, Sadnatop etc.

Srinagar, Oct 14 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir State Council of Educational Research and Training (JKSCERT) has asked all the government and recognised private schools to implement SA&E scheme for preparatory stage and onwards in addition to recording the progress of students on Holistic Report Card (HPC).

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Joint Director Central for JKSCERT said, “All the government and government recognised private school of Jammu and Kashmir UT shall implement the ‘Student Assessment and Evaluation Scheme’ notified by the Council for preparatory Stage and onwards Viz; 3rd Class and onwards in addition to recording the progress of Students on Holistic Report Card (HPC) for Preparatory Stage.”

The joint director also clarified that recording for foundational stage that is upto 2nd standard shall be made exclusively on Holistic Progress Card (HPC) only.

Earlier in September, JKCERT has said that the HPC developed by NCERT has been adopted by this Council.

“Holistic Progress Card (HPC) encompasses not only the academic achievements of a student but also captures his/her socio-emotional growth, creativity, and vocational proficiency,” reads the previous communique of JKSCERT.

It also said that the progress card proposes the use of integrative pedagogy in order to track the students’ performance.

“It distils the various academic domains, associated goals and competencies thereof in the form of academic activities and use these activities to track progress,” it reads—(KNO)
